Space Invaders Cutting Board

Tri-Force Cutting BoardI have to say that if you’re into crafts, I really recommend you visit a crafts website [Click this link for my favorite craft site]. The photo was shared on craftzine and it is oh so cool. If you’re one of those people that have themed rooms, this would go perfect with an 8-bit/ pixelated kind of room, don’t you agree? Captn_sideburns posted some more pictures on his LJ [livejournal for those who don’t know] and the future plans for a Tri-Force cutting board. Oh snaps!! He wrote that he had an extra one, but it seems he’s gotten exposure on BoingBoing and people have been contacting him non-stop. If you want to try your luck, contact him via livejournal mail [?]. Click the thumbnail to see the Tri-Force plans.

Did you know that a new Street Fighter is being released? I found out a couple weeks ago, but I just ran into some screenshots on the net and felt the need to share. I must admit that I really do love street fighter, it really brings out the competitive nature in me. My favorite character is Chun Li, but can you blame me, that woman has some diesel arse legs! Check out the art!

“Still Alive” in Mario Paint

It’s no secret I believe the SNES is the best console ever created. Heck, even CNET agrees with me. Along side my SNES stands one of my favorite games- Mario Paint. One of my favorite features is its music composer. Now-a-days you can find a PC/Mac version of the Mario Paint Composer to make custom tracks. Among the songs that can be made is “Still Alive” from the game Portal. The song is catchy, witty, and delightful. If you’re a fan of Mario Paint or Portal it’s worth checking out.

Rock Band: Double Bass Pedal

Posted in Geek Reviews, Video Game Related by Izzy on Feb 23rd, 2008, Comments (6)

There is no doubt that Rock Band has been huge success in game, hardware and DLC sales. Several fans in the Rock Band community have requested EA to construct a double bass pedal. Double Bass Pedals are especially affective where speed is needed on the bass drum (i.e. Metal, Rock.) Being a fan of Rock Band, and Metal I thought to give this one a try.

It’s exceptionally simple to “construct” a double bass pedal for Rock Band. All you need is a headphone Y-adapter from Radio Shack, and an extra drum pedal. A drum pedal can be obtained by borrowing a friend’s pedal, or by purchasing a new drum set (not recommended.) You may also obtain one by using EA’s support site and “replacing” your drum pedal for $20. To construct the double bass pedal simply connect the headphone Y-adapter into the drum kit and bass pedals. Double check your connections and make sure everything clicks into place.
Here is a photo of my Rock Band double bass pedal:

Double bass pedals should help in bass heavy songs (i.e. Metallica, NIN, Iron Maiden, etc.) If I were a dummer in real life I’m sure I would have had better results. This double bass pedal setup requires you to alternate both feet quickly. The Rock Band pedal is designed to work in singles. This means open and closed circuits with no in-between middle contact. If one pedal is pressed down, Rock Band will not register the second pedal. In order for this to be effective one foot would have to be completely lifted off the pedal before the other is pressed. This requires speed, and precision, none of which I have.

Based on my drumming “style” (and lack of practice) this was far too dificult. I also felt the need to press harder on the pedal then usual. Perhaps this was caused by my frustration in effectiveness. Until Harmonix/EA releases a double bass pedal, this is your best option. Though I was disappointed with my results, I’ve seen excellent results from others using this method. For now I will continue to practice my single bass pedal technique.

Gears of War Pt. Deux!!

I barely played GoW pt. 1, this was due to the fact that I get self-conscious playing shooters in front of my Mr. I don’t know why, so don’t ask me. It’s not like he makes fun of me, I just love being great at things and refuse to let people see me when I suck at things. I’m looking forward to Pt. 2, check out the trailer after the jump. :-D

Wanted, originally uploaded by gamerscoreblog.

Everyone (as in- most of the sites I visit) had covered the GTA IV Wanted posters, so I didn’t want to post what was already out there. One of my contacts [gamerscoreblog] posted this photo of the viral marketing held by a person who has a very similar features to our suspect… hmm…

If I’m not mistaken, she works for Microsoft, so I enjoy looking at her photostream all the time because she shows me the ins-and-outs of what’s behind the company. Check her photostream, add her, be contacts. :-)
