IMO

A gal from the IMO team spotted my “reviews” for instant messaging programs like; Trillian and Digsby. She’s part of the team that is working on releasing IMO, a new instant messaging system that is merging; aim, yahoo, msn and gtalk. They’ve recently added a facebook application too. Currently IMO is still in alpha stage and not ready for public use (well, by the buttload better said). I used both the online access and the desktop system and here is what I think.

After I tested IMO, I responded to the email that was sent to me, and asked who the intended market was, and recieved this response:

In terms of the market we are targeting, our system is definitely very user friend and easy-to-use. For that reason, it has appealed mostly to less computer-efficient people. We are hoping, however, to target all audiences and increase user participation.

It was clear to me when I was using the program that it was overly simplistic. I don’t think this is a negative, especially for their intended market. I’m simply in the need for more features all the time, that this simply was not the messaging application for me. When you visit imo.im, you’re able to log onto your aim on a web-browser window the same way Meebo allows you to. This is a good feature if you use this at work and don’t want to be so obvious about your lack of actual labor. -)

When incoming messages are coming in, everything is kept in the same window. I know that Trillian introduced the tabbing system, so did dead aim and aol aim, this however just keeps it all to one window. This would’ve been an awesome feature if it hadn’t been that Digsby has also done this.

The sounds are pretty limited to one, which is okay, because it was a whistle. One that wasn’t annoying and wasn’t too loud either. All-in-all, the system would be perfect for people who aren’t dazzled by many features and want something simple that will simply work. I would probably recommend this messaging system to my boss, it’s basic and self-explanitory and won’t confuse the man either. If you want to check it out for yourself, please follow this link. [IMO.im], tell me what you think.

Photoshop No-no’s.

Imagine Babies

I’ve mentioned in a previous entry that I’m learning Photoshop on my own these days. Well, whenever people post tips or how-to’s, I rush to my PS application and try my best to replicate what the the piece is teaching. Well, last night, Tina from Swissmiss Blog, posted a “Photoshop Disasters” post and it is hilarious. The post was referring to a Blogger account titled, “Photoshop Disasters” which features lot’s of PS no-no’s. Check out the site, I swear you’ll get a kick out of it. I’m sure I’m going to pay more attention to the images around me now, just to check for mistakes. [Visit Photoshop Disasters]

Looking Back

Posted in Other/Random Things by saki on Mar 7th, 2008, Comments (0)

I’m not sure why I ended up looking this up on Google, it could be that I was searching for myself, which by the way there’s a couple things about me online- but then I remembered the picture a friend sent me about a year ago that she found of me when I was in the 9th grade! I searched for this photo and realized that it was attached to an article of the “Anti-Bias Squad” which was a club my friends and I started in our high school to find a solution to the homophobia and hostility in our school. The second year in existence, we got the opportunity to work with a marketing team, if I remember correctly. They helped us come up with a logo, slogan, the whole nine yards. Well, this was also a little after 9.11 and therefore, Time to Consider picked up one of our concepts to be part of the “The Arts Respond to 9.11“.

 Anti-Bias Squad

Basically, one of our concepts was chosen from 100 submissions to be displayed in a gallery and posted all over the city. I remember walking to the school one day, and seeing our poster plastered across the street at a construction site. I was estatic, and reading about it and seeing the images from way back then, really makes me feel lucky to have been a part of the project. This really was a team collaborative, though I remember my friend throwing out “defuse” and therefore making the words a lot more powerful.

A Tokidoki Valentine

Adios Tokidoki

Adios is the sweetest little Grim on the planet. He eats a lollipop, realizes how deliciously tasty it is, and the first thing he thinks of is- how much Ciao Ciao would love to have one. He steals from the monkeys, faces the “evil” and conniving leader of the Moofia gang, and swims the depths of the lake (?) to get to his sweetheart. Oh, if only all the fellas were like this. Check out Tokidoki’s Valentine edition video at tokidoki.it and more screen shots after the jump.
